Helios & The Power button Of Doom Its been a month and a half since I became aquainted with Helios who was the runt of the litter and was constantly being crowded out of the food dish by his other three siblings so i would take him aside and feed him separately so he could get some evaporated milk and chow. Ever since July 16 th its been Orion, Helios and myself. Orion had a bad case of PTSD because of Neptune and I wasn't sure if he would let the kitten live...But he did. And over the last month Helios tried as he might to win over the orange tabby's heart and refused to give in. About 2 weeks ago i saw Orion begin to play with Helios and now they can sit with each other, drink out of the same bowl and eat off the same saucer and play til they become so tuckered out both of them need a nap. Helios is just so darn curious and gets into all sorts of mayhem. So the kitten found his favorite perch... On top of my computer rig then made his way to the front of the computer and saw this lighted button that changes color and started patting at it with his little feet and i caught this out of the corner of my eye and couldn't stop him then poof....the screen goes black then says shutting down.....i was doing something and i was furious but remembering hes just a kitten. I put up a piece of cardboard and used duct tape to fasten it as a barrier to keep the little one from doing it again and to my dismay he was trying as he might to get around it because its so shiny. I then took a canola spray cap and taped it to the cap and computer then he accessed the cap by some miracle and started playing with it again....LOL The cardboard wasn't doing its job very well and then to my horror they started playing ring around the computer together and Orion was on the chase. Well my fat cat got tangled in the cables and wires then the screen went black and the monitor went to standby. I had to crawl under the desk and push Orion thru the other way and reseat my Display port cable....Although it has a locking plug the monitor has finicky video inputs so i had to reseat the input then the screen came back. Next i grabbed a 6 jug milk crate and put it inbetween the rig and my retro rig to cut off his access but it doesn't stop there so he tries to go the other way and i grabbed a small section of plywood i was saving for a rainy day and sealed the end of the desk. Orion is now a bit upset about that and gave me a nip. Helios figured this all out as he is small enough to get around. One fine evening i was doing a three hour upload to You Tube and the white fluffy kitten used the crate to bypass the barrier and got on top again and BOP the screen went black and said shutting down. I was at 9 minutes left...I was furious but hes just a kitten so I ran another piece of tape on the other side of the cap to secure the power button and ripped down the cardboard and put my Ifixit Tool kit in place as a better barrier and its worked so far. The cover of this publication shows the ingenuity of a determined kitten to try and play with the power button regardless of what I do. Helios is starting to figure out jumping and several times hes gotten to the cap but cant wrestle the glowing cap loose to pat the button....I can only laugh at the humor of it all. I am sure glad Both cats are not only getting along but are having adventures in play time together. Helios is downstairs and Orion has the loft, for now. One of these days he will figure out the ladder and come into the loft to sleep with me but for now that is Orion's thing...Only time will tell. Peace, BigT
